The Canucks are still a bubble team to make the playoffs but I expect a way better product then last year. The team will be more exciting to watch. Sedins, Burrows and Edler will bounce back. Kassian will continue to grow and it will be interesting to see how Vey, Bonino and Vrbata look.

Willie saying Kassian learning from Burrows to improve consistency is spot on. Kassian would be a beast with a Burrows mentality(insert hair-pulling joke here). I think he's gonna start them with Bonino, at least to open camp.

Kassian would only pull someone's hair to line up the guys face with Kass's right cross.

Hi Carol, thanks for keeping us informed during the dog days of summer. Can you please never mention Torterella's name again. Every time I see his name I projectile vomit. Thanks a ton and keep up the great work here!

"Willie acknowledges that the spot on the twins' wing is Vrbata's"

I don't like the idea of him being penciled in from the get go, I want Willie to see what happens in training camp and if Vrbata and Bonino have any chemistry.

Not assuming Burrows should be put there either... I think with Bonino on the second line, instead of what we had in the past, it creates more opportunities for other players and chemistry.

Looking forward to training camp in September.

I have no problem with Vrbata being penciled in and gets a chance but if it doesn't work I hope he makes a change back to burrows or kassian quickly.

We'll trade him to the Leafs for meat and potatoes now that they have Dubas.

I don't know why kassian didn't get more looks as the twin's winger. Seems like it would be a descent fit. It definitely would have made kassian a better player.

If Klatt, Carter, and Burrows can do it then why not kassian?

I think the trolls on this site will never let us forget the coach who's name shall never be spoken (out of respect for Marwood).

He's going to need those wipers.

Nice write up. Pretty much positive all around. I especially liked the part where Dubas was saying McCann needs to get his shooting percentage higher, as he took the most shots on the team last year (and that he's got a wicked wrister - Joe Sakic Part II - ya ya, I know, but one can dream)

He also said that McCann didn't get the prime offensive minutes (except on PP) because they were generallly using him in a more defensive role, particularly on the road to match up against the other team's first/2nd ines (which he exceeded at)

All in all, pretty excited at both Virtanen and McCann (although Mrs Marwood might not be so thrilled at this point in time)

This.

No point in penciling anybody in until training camp starts. Should be a good one!

One line I'd like see tried out in some pre-season games is Shinkaruk-Vey-Kassian; could be an interesting dynamic.
